Fast Forward 2 is a conference designed to bring together architects, designers, educators, community members, preservationists, and architecture buffs to discuss the future of architecture and urban planning in the greater Palm Springs area. These conferences are organized and sponsored by the Palm Springs Architectural Alliance and dedicated to the goal of helping the city government, architects and developers to work together to design buildings that will be worthy of celebrating 50 years from now.
New technology, innovative solutions to low cost housing and density of cities will be discussed and explored along with other interesting and timely topics. Big thinking about design and density, the need for a sense of "place" to be reflected in architecture and of course, sustainability are featured in these presentations by noted experts, and local architects.
The conference will feature a keynote address by noted architect Vishaan Chakrabarti, Dean of the Berkeley Environmental School of Architecture, who will speak to designing architecture that does not follow a specific style but rather responds to the specific and unique needs of the community client. Additionally, Vishaan will share 3 distinctly different case studies of projects his firm has completed that highlight his approach to architecture and design. Three local exerts will engage him in a discussion about Palm Springs and its future.
