Full Details

From the Eiffel Tower to the Pyramid at the Louvre, from the Guggenheim to the Burg Khalifa in Dubai, architect’s egos are stamped all over cities, all over the world. Danish architect, Bjarke Ingels, even has drawings to literally redesign Earth.

What does it mean to be an architect? Master builder, master designer, master creator: architects have been granted the responsibility to impact communities and cultural progress, through the flexing of creative muscles. Who has given architects this role in society, such influence over society, and what have they done with it? Anthony Poon, AIA, examines ego and arrogance within the architectural process. He also introduces his latest novel, Death by Design at Alcatraz, an architectural thriller exploring vanity, redemption and the artistic journey, where architects are being murdered as they compete for a new museum of art. The question is posed: who would you kill to satisfy your creative ego?

Anthony Poon is an award-winning architect, musician, artist, author and a frequent presenter at Modernism Week. His Los Angeles-based Poon Design Inc.
