Full Details

Founded in Beijing by Ma Yansong in 2004, MAD Architects is a global firm exploring a type of ‘dream architecture’ that opens up a dialogue with nature. With offices in China, USA and Europe, MAD is one of the youngest and most successful architecture firms in the world. It is committed to creating a vision for our future cities that is based on the spiritual and emotional needs of its inhabitants.

First, as Head of Operations for MAD’s Beijing office and now based in the Los Angeles office managing operations, projects and overall strategy in North and South America , Associate Partner Dixon Lu will discuss the wide range of extraordinary projects MAD has designed across the world and in particular, China.

From world class opera houses, to multi-family buildings on the mountainside, to office and residential towers, to museums unlike any other, each project represents the firm’s design philosophy of the “Shanshui City”.  While discussing these projects,  Shanshui City will be expanded upon to demonstrate how this philosophy drives MAD’s approach in the relationship between humans and architecture.

This event qualifies for 1 AIA/CES Learning Units (LU).
