The Palm Springs Preservation Foundation is proud to make the William F. & Wini Cody Residence (1952) available for lovers of modernist architecture. The home has not been on tour for many years, but is being made available on the occasion of the recent release of the book Master of the Midcentury: The Architecture of William F. Cody (co-published by PSPF with Monacelli Press). Notably, the Cody family residence is prominently featured in the September 1952 issue of the seminal Arts & Architecture magazine and, as such, bears claim to being one of the most important steel-framed homes built in post-war America. Cody’s creative residential design, which took him six years from concept to completion, shows architectural innovation at every turn and represents the lengthiest project of his illustrious career. Tourgoers will receive an informational handout.
The Palm Springs Preservation Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is “to educate and promote public awareness of the importance of preserving the historical resources and architecture of the city of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley area.” PSPF offers free membership as a public benefit. To learn more about the work of the foundation see www.pspreservationfoundation.org.
