Palm Springs Life has partnered with the Kappe family, and Sean Lockyer, and the builder, Desert Palisades to bring these homes to the public eye.

Raymond Kappe was a master architect who built some of the most revered homes and structures in modern design. The completion of this home in 2021 will undoubtedly realize one of the most significant architectural events to happen in Palm Springs in several decades. The home will be furnished by Modern Hacienda in partnership with Herman Miller and Carl Hansen & Son.

Desert Palisades Lot 50 designed by Sean Lockyer brings to life the simple beauty of the desert while taking advantage of the vista. At once it is an elegant retreat and a nod to the modernist masters. 

Ray Kappe, FAIA, was an internationally recognized architect, urban planner and educator. His body of work spanning from 1953 to present is considered to be an extension of the early Southern California master architects Frank Lloyd Wright, Rudolph Schindler, and Richard Neutra. Kappe’s residential architecture has been characterized as ‘the apotheosis of the California House.’

Sean Lockyer is the founding principal and lead architect for studio AR&D architects. Sean’s choice for the direction of the firm has always been one that speaks to the craft and alliance between both architecture and the landscape.

Things to Know

The tours are self-guided. You will check-in at the Guard House at Desert Palisades at: 1101 W Racquet Club Rd., Palm Springs, CA, 92262.
At the guard gate you will show the guard your ticket, and you will be given a map with directions to lot 50 and lot 24.
One side of the map directs you to each home, the other side provides a route for each self-guided home tour.
You may start the tour at either lot 24 or lot 50. The addresses of each home are on the map.
Parking is located on the street near the home. There will be signs to direct you to parking. Please do not park directly in front of the homes. Our tour goers will want to take photos of the front of the homes.
Face coverings required for all guests.
This event is for ages 10 and older.
No parking pass is required at the guard, gate but you must show your ticket to the guard upon entry to Desert Palisades and again at check-in at the houses.
Please arrive for your designated tour time on time. Allow for ten minutes to get through security and parking. There are separate entry & exit points.
Hand sanitizer is provided at check-in as well as booties. Timed entrance will only allow a limited number of tour goers in homes at all times.
There are some exterior and/or interior steps.
You must show your ticket at the gate prior to entering Desert Palisades.
No dogs or animals allowed.
